OVERVIEW

Video walls are often used in conjunction with a cluster computing system. In this setup, each individual monitor is controlled by a separate computer. The growth of video wall technology has come a long way since the early years of its conception to todays incarnations. originally developed for the military as a method for space command to track orbiting debris and shuttle missions it was quickly implemented throughout the Military s other branches and has since made its way into the public mainstream markets. Video Walls are also implemented in a number of well-funded University laboratories as ultra-high resolution visualization tools for very large data sets. Examples include TACC at the University of Taxas and the HIPerWall project at UC Irvine. A video wall display can be as few as two monitors next to each other or as many as the facility can accommodate. The monitors can be any form of current display technology; from CRT (Cathode Ray Tubes), to LED displays as used in major sports arenas and highway advertisement billboards.
